Ring Groups

Ring Groups is a feature that allows calls to be routed to multiple extensions and/or external numbers.

To access the Ring Groups page, do the following:

  1. Login to your PBX Admin Portal.
    • i.e. customer.freevociepbx.com/maint
      (replace customer with your system's actual subdomain)
  2. Go to PBX > PBX Setup > Ring Groups.


Add Ring Group


Ring-Group Number is the internal number that will be used for your Ring Group.
Group Description can be used to further describe your Ring Group.
Ring Strategy is used to select how you want the assigned members of this group to be called.
You can define a prefix to be added before the CID through Caller ID Prefix.
Ignore Call Forward will skip over any extensions that have Call Forwarding enabled.
Skip Busy Extensions skips over any extensions that are currently in a call.
Record Calls, when set to 'Yes', automatically records calls routed to and answered by this group.
Distinct Ring is used to give a distinctive ring to Aastra and Polycom devices.


Group Members


To add members, you can select extensions on the right side under Available Extensions.
When an extension is selected, their box will highlight with a light blue.
After selecting the ones you want, press the Add button.
To add an external number, you would type the 10 digit external number starting with the area code
(without spaces of symbols), then press the small Add button on the bottom.

To remove assigned members, you would select them on the left side under Assigned Members.
When selected, their boxes will highlight in blue. You can then press the Remove button.


Group Announcement

Caller Join Announcement is an audio file that would be played to the caller before ringing to the assigned members.
Member Answer Announcement is the audio file played to a group members before they are connected with the caller.
Play Music On Hold allows you to choose if you want it to play Music On Hold or have normal ringing.


Confirm Group Calls

Checking the Confirm Calls box will prompt any external number to press 1 on their phone before a call is put through.
Remote Announce allows an audio recording to be played to an external number when receiving a call while Confirmed Calls is enabled.
Too-Late Announce allows an audio recording to be played to an external number if they press 1 too late and Confirmed Calls is enabled.


Outbound Caller ID

Mode is where you can define what CID will be shown for the assigned members of the Ring Group.
Fixed CID Value is where you can define a Fixed CID for the Fixed CID modes.


Destination if no answer

This is where you can define where the call will go if the assigned members of the Ring Group do not answer.



Save any changes made. (using S.A.C - Submit, Apply, Continue)
