The Defender application is a security measure that stops undesirables from attaining access to your system by blacklisting IP's that reach the Max Fail Attempts number.

To access the Defender page, do the following:

  1. Login to your PBX Admin Portal.
    • i.e. customer.freevociepbx.com/maint
(replace customer with your system's actual subdomain)
  2. Go to Apps > Defender.

Status

The Status tab shows if your Defender is currently active and running. You can choose to Start/Stop the Defender, as well as reset it.

Blacklist

On this tab, you would be able Add or Delete IPs you would want to be automatically blocked from accessing your system.

By blacklisting an IP, you are denying it access to your system. IPs are also automatically added to the Blacklist if they reach the Defender's Max Failed Attempt limit.

Device Whitelist

This tab is used to allow any IPs added to always have access to connect to extensions on your system.

You can Add or Delete any IPs as you feel fit. It is highly recommended you always and immediately add your location's IP to prevent being blacklisted.

Admin Whitelist

Admin Whitelist is used to allow any IPs added to always have access to the maintenance side of your PBX.

You can Add or Delete any IPs as you feel fit. It is highly recommended you always and immediately add your location's IP to prevent being blacklisted.

User Whitelist

This is used to allow any IPs added to always have access to the User Portal side of your PBX.

Settings

Through this tab, you can change the basic settings of your Defender.

By changing the drop downs to "Y", you will change that Whitelist to Strict Mode. Strict Mode allows ONLY the whitelisted IPs to have access to those correlating features.

Max Failed Attempts is the number of attempts you will give IPs before they are automatically blacklisted for not properly achieving connection.
