Polycom Phones


In this section, you can find detailed ways to Factory Reset, manually configure, and obtain an IP/MAC address for Polycom models: VVX 300, 400, 500, 600, and IP 6000.

When provisioning your phone, first you will need to make sure you have contacted the Support Center with your phone's Make, Model and MAC Address (if the phone was not purchased through Freevoice), have added the new device to the Endpoint Manager, then you will need to Factory Reset the phone, then follow the manual/automatic configuration instructions below.

Factory Reset

Press the Home key.
Select Settings.
Select Advanced Settings.
This will prompt for the Admin password, which is "456".
Select Administration Settings.
Scroll down to select Reset to Defaults.
Scroll down again to select Reset To Factory Defaults.
Press Yes to confirm.

IP 6000:
On your phone, select the "Menu" key or soft-key, then go to:
Settings-->Advanced-->Admin Settings-->Reset to Default-->Reset Local Config
Press Yes to confirm.


Finding your phone's IP address

There are two ways you can find your phones IP:

  • Web Interface
    You can get the phones IP from the router's Device List.

  • Physical Interface
    Press the Home Key.
    Touch the Settings button.
    Scroll down and select Status.
    Select Network.
    Choose TCP/IP Parameters.
    The IP address is as listed under IP.

Finding your MAC address

You can find the MAC on the sticker that is on the back/bottom of the phone, but if it is not there or you don't have physical access to the phone you can get the MAC in 2 other ways.

  • Web Interface
    You can get the phones IP from the routers Device List and access the phones Web Interface.
    To use the Web Administration page of the phone, you would first need to find the phone's IP address.
    Open up a web browser and type in the phone's IP address.
    Click Admin Login. The default password is "456".
    In the Home field, the MAC is displayed.

  • Physical Interface
    Press the Home/Menu Key.
    Touch the Settings button.
    Scroll down and select Status.
    Select Network.
    Choose Ethernet.
    The MAC address is as listed under MAC.


Automatic Configuration

Before you configure your phone, make sure that it is already provisioned in the Endpoint Manager.

Our router uses the following string in the DNSMASQ field for auto-configuration:
dhcp-option=66,"http://Customer.freevoicepbx.com/epmcfg" (Replace Customer with your actual sub-domain.)

Manual Configuration

Before you configure your phone, make sure that it is already provisioned in the Endpoint Manager.

To manually configure a phone, you have two options.

  • Web Interface (Click Here for Video Guide)
    To use the Web Administration page of the phone, you would first need to find the phone's IP address.
    Open up a web browser and type in the phone's IP address.
    Click Admin Login. The default password is "456".
    Select the Settings tab, then select Provisioning Server.
    Change the Server Type from "FTP" to "HTTP".
    Change the Server Address to "http://Customer.freevoicepbx.com/epmcfg".
    (Replace Customer with your actual sub-domain.)
    Save the changes, and power cycle your phone if it does not reboot automatically.
    The phone will download new instructions. Please be patient up to about five minutes.

  • Physical Interface
    Power cycle the phone.
    While it is starting up again, press the Cancel button to interrupt.
    Choose the Setup option. This will prompt for an admin password. By default, the password is "456".
    Select Provisioning Server settings.
    Select DHCP Menu Option and change the Boot Server to Static.
    Back out to the Provisioning Server screen, and change Server Type from FTP to HTTP.
    Then for Server Address, type in "http://Customer.freevoicepbx.com/epmcfg"
    (Replace Customer with your actual sub-domain. The "." is "*" and the "/" is varies based on model and firmware)
    Press the Exit button to back out to the main menu.
    Select Save & Reboot.

  • IP 6000
    On your phone select the Menu key or soft-key
    Settings-->Advanced-->Admin Settings-->Network Configuration
    Set DHCP Menu-->Set Boot Server to "Static" (you may need to push the right arrow key to scroll through the options)
    Set Server Menu-->Set the Server Type to "HTTP" (you may need to push the right arrow key to scroll through the options)
    Set Server Menu--> Set the Server Address to "http://Customer.freevoicepbx.com/epmcfg"
    (Replace Customer with your actual sub-domain. The "." is "*" and the "/" is varies based on model and firmware)
    Save Configuration - The phone should now reboot
    Please test to make sure the phone can make an outbound and inbound call with audio flowing in both directions.
